Sunday Afternoon : Capulet’s house. Enter Capulet’s Wife and Nurse
Lady Capulet asks the nurse to call her Juliet for her. The nurse is a bit batty, and she started getting nervous when she didn’t know where Juliet was. Juliet entered the scene and the nurse was relived. Lady Capulet and the nurse start talking about Juliet and how old she is. The nurse and Juliet’s mother disagree with each other about her age, to show that the nurse really knows her true age she starts talking about all her life with Juliet and how she stopped drinking her breast milk at the age of 3. The nurse keeps on going on of all loads of reasons of how she knows Juliet is 14. Juliet’s mother stops as she feels as she has heard too much. Then the nurse mentions something about marriage and Juliet’s mum tells them both that that’s exactly what she wants to talk about. Lady Capulet asked Juliet how she felt about getting married. Juliet responds “it is an honour that I dream not of.” Lady Capulet talks about how handsome Paris is, she tells Juliet that tonight will be a chance for her to see him. Juliet gets asked if she will accept Paris’s Love. She says that she’ll look at him and try to like him but if she doesn’t she won’t be forced to like him just because her mom wants her to.
